Religion

I might not be the only person to have noticed this, but I thot of blogging this down.
There are different types of religious ppl in the world.. well at least those from Kuwait n India whom I know:

1. The type that actually have a strong belief and faith in God and who actually let others live to their faith not question whatsoever!
2. Those who have faith that a God exists, yet are open to do all the shit that you are not supposed to do as mentioned in the religious scriptures!
3. Those who have no faith, yet pray to God and go to the church or wherever, as a kind of insurance policy because that's what they were taught to do when they were small.
4. Those who have a strong belief and faith in God and try to convince others that their God is the best, their belief is best while others beliefs are bogus!!
5. And lastly the rest are those who have given up hope on the belief system or faith as one may put it in God and want to live a life free of religion.

Somehow I fit perfectly in the last category. Well that's actually an Atheist!! But its more of a resigned state rather than actually being an Atheist. I have come across so many such people, whether Christians, Hindus, Buddhists etc.. and all they do is try to put their religion over another. For what gain I still don't understand. The only common thing shared between all these groups are that in the end, they succeed in confusing a poor chap looking out for plain simple guidance. How many lives have been ruined by just interfering unnecessarily? And when you really need help, all these groups want to wash their hands off you.

What I cant stand most is when some guy walks over to me and says.. Mone palli poganam.. and starts bringing out the advs of going to church. Did I ask for the advs? No? How well do you know me? Not at all. Then who dafuq are you to tell me whats right and whats wrong? Ppl go on n on, whether its in Christianity or Hinduism or yea de other religion as well.. I dnt want to say tht out loud cos we never know who may be reading this post. But seriously all that these ppl do is try to brain wash you over a bunch of nonsense. Hey if you are happy, be like that, dnt go n ruin your happiness by accepting advise from those who dnt really know you. Some of these ppl have de most shittiest reasons for going to church..

You cant get married if you don't go to church!! (Oh well in that case i'll do a register)
Your child cannot go to Sunday School!! (Its Friday here bitch!! there is no Sunday school.. Besides like hell ill send my kid to Sunday school)
The Priest wont ring you up and wish you for your bday or Xmas. (Good riddens)

These are most of the christian ones I've heard.. Hindu ones are even funnier:

If you do something bad, the guy with the 3 eyes will open his 1 eye n u will turn to ashes.
You will be born a fly/frog/snake/alien?? in your next birth!

Seriously?? Some times I feel even stand up comedians are nothing compared to these guys..

Why is it so hard for people to let you live the way you want to live? If you are happy the way you live, so be it! Why stop that and follow a bunch of self obsessed maniacs!!

the JOLT!

How many of us realize the value of happyness? We breathe every day, we meet different people, we go shopping, for coffee, to church, but are we really living our life or are we just existing??? I have come across only a few people who are their true self in front of us and the same when they are at home.. these are people who radiate a sense of happyness that makes you wonder..

HOW can they be so content with everything that's happening around them? You just want to be THAT person!! Its not jealousy, nor envy, its just plain wanting to be a little more happy with events surrounding you..

We all get ecstatic when something good happens, but HOW do the 'HAPPY' guys react when something unforeseen happens?? Will they still be in the same state of mind or would they change? Naturally you would; depending on the circumstance but are their really people out there who are totally unaffected by whatever external influences sprout up in their lives?? No matter how bad it is?? I really wonder..

Something happened recently that made me wonder.. its human emotion to complain about something, even though there is actually no real problem.. But when you hear of a bad thing that has happened to a relative or a good friend which is really serious, you start thinking, hey you are way better off compared to him/her. You feel happy, you become thankful, you sigh a relief!! You get back to a positive frame of mind, and yes HAPPY!! This is exactly what I mean by a JOLT to actual situations and getting life back on track. It might make you happy or it might make you more conscious. But its still a jolt with a rude awakening..

The problem is.. these jolts are mostly temporary, and then you slowly loose wind of it all, and get back to your usual self. Question is do we really need these small jolts to get us back to reality every once in a while or can we learn to keep it forever? I think we need to remind ourselves, not to look for a JOLT to get back to being HAPPY..

Yes its all an Ideal scenario!! But there's no harm in dreaming about it and thinking that  IT IS POSSIBLE! ;)

112 posts later

I dunno why it never occurred to me, but its been a yr and 2 months since I started blogging! I never thought that I would go beyond a couple of posts or months before I give my fingers a break. Yes there have been times where I did lose interest, and got the bloggers block; and the only thing that excited me in my blog would be to see the number of visits it got in a day!! :)

But over the months I have felt a difference in my outlook towards blogging. A surge of interest has crept back in and no longer do visits excite me.. (Who am I kidding?? :P) Nevertheless on a serious note, I am starting to understand and appreciate the true meaning of blogging. :)

Who wants to be a MILLIONAIRE??

As I stare at my laptop screen looking for new job opportunities I can't help but wonder how easy it would be if I could just be a Millionaire overnight. Or I blink my eyes and there I've got a Million bucks right in front of me.. Some times, I've thought if I did have a Million bucks would I really be that happy?? Would I just ponder about ways to invest that money, or would I think about ways to spend it??

Having had that thought poke me in my head for a few years, I have gradually realized that, it really doesn't matter!! Well we all do dream about being rich n famous, and am not saying a lil extra money could hurt. Nor am I saying that you don't need money at all. What I'm saying is, if you count the number of little things that make you happy and fill that void in your life, then we are ALL already MILLIONAIRES.

So what if you don't have the latest phone!! If you still do have a phone to keep in touch with your dearest ones, then there you are RICH.
So what if you don't have a HUGE house to set up your ENTERTAINMENT CENTER!! If you still have a house to stay which is decent enough, you are again RICH.
So what if your not good in FOOTBALL or another sport!! If you still have all your organs, limbs, sensations bla bla.. you are still RICH!
Anyway you get the POINT... These are just 3 simple examples I can take from a MILLION!

We all whine about not having something that the other person has, or jealous about someone else for very small things. Its human nature, and comes quite naturally. To outgrow that emotion does not need a lot of maturity.. just a sense of letting go and being happy for others prosperity. Its funny, but if you look at it in this way, its more of an INSPIRATION!

Now, You can compare this to BLESSINGS, but I'd stick to calling these PERKS and opportunities that we take for granted.. Just having all these small perks adds up to much more than a MILLION. And if you get a kick out of knowing that you are already one, that should be fuel to strive harder!!

Cheers..

The Infinite Monkey Theorem

I chanced about this theory when searching for something really important. Its basically this.

"The infinite number theory revolves around the idea that a monkey hitting random keys on a keyboard or typewriter for an infinite amount of time, will for surely type in a text".

Call it weird, insane, cheesy.. but it does sound possible. Anyway there's more of the theorem in this link:
Junkworthknowing

I could not follow the Math part of it. But the rest of it surely does sound true.

The three monkeys..

I read the news every morning, evening on my NDTV app.. I listen to it on the BBC while driving my car. I try to keep a track of the latest tech innovations. I read gossips, fitness tips, health tips, philosophy, senseless  rants etc. Its not just me, its the same with people all over the world.

While I feel some of it is necessary to live in the present, the rest just dictates information that distorts your simple thinking. People go on and on about stuff they hear or read, that have no relevance to their lives or to others they are conversing with. Its just waste of time, and information!! Yes you can probably entertain some, but don't people realize that it could be boring to others ears?? Similar to FREEDOM OF SPEECH.. there is also an untold FREEDOM TO LISTEN!!

I have the utmost respect for Sales people. They have to get the customer to like what they have to sell, while at the same time, talking stuff relevant to the customers ears even if that means they have to smile and force themselves through the whole experience. In a way this is what we do, but a good sell can also be keeping quiet whenever required.

Some of these sayings that I have learnt to appreciate over time...
IGNORANCE IS BLISS!!
TOO MUCH KNOWLEDGE IS A DANGEROUS THING!!
Why do people complicate simple things?? A glass of water is still a glass of water!!

To conclude, I just came across a quote by Stephen Hawking that combine both the above sayings and keep the essence of what I've been trying to put across... "The Greatest enemy of Knowledge is not Ignorance, it is the ILLUSION of Knowledge!!"

Yes Man!

I was just going through my movie collection on my hard disk and decided its time to sit n clear some of the unwanted, time wasting, senseless movies which I would probably never watch. Its been on the PC for the past 4 years but I have always found it hard to press the delete button on the keyboard.

After going through some of the movies, I came across 'Yes Man' and it was in the list of movies that I had already seen. Somehow I couldn't remember when and how it was. So after forwarding it in a jiffy, I felt I should sit and watch this over lunch. I had just been 25 minutes into the movie when I started wondering why I never remembered much about it. Cause YES it is good!!!

Anyway, I've always had this logic behind watching a movie.
1.... They had to have a good rating.
2.... I should not regret wasting my time after watching it.
3.... They got to make you feel good.
4.... They should be inspiring.

Getting back to what I was saying, there have always been movies that inspire me or make me think.
I'm not saying Yes Man is one of them, but it does make one feel good. I have always felt that if you are going to get that dull head of yours to think for a while by watching some movie, then go ahead. But again, that doesn't mean you watch SAW and be like, hey lets play a game on someone's life..  :P Cos yea there are psychos out there who do get a tick out of such stuff too. You can't blame them, but hell we gotta stay away from them!!!

Some of those movies:
Pursuit of Happyness made me realize the value of money, and I thought I would work hard, be good and spend wisely from then on. Think it lasted 10 days!!! :)
Into the Wild and Lakshya have always been favourites. There is so much realism and you feel you can relate to the character. Well I felt I could!!! Matrix (Yes Matrix!!) No Comments. Stranger than fiction.. What a beautiful story!? Imagine if someone were writing your life, every moment hence, and you could only helplessly listen and wait what would happen next.. There are loads more, but these are the ones I can remember for now.

What I've learnt from all these are, there are some of us who would change after watching a movie. Some for the better, some for the worse. There are those who do not get affected by a movie. Those who would blindly believe stuff they see in the movie.. Its weird yet funny, but that's how human emotions are.  ;)
